Since the land rights issue came to the fore, among adivasis, not just in the SSP submergence area but in a large, vast tribal region in Satpuda, Maharashtra, there has been an unprecedented enthusiasm and momentum. We, the adivasis are not only awaiting to get our titles to the land in the 73 forest villages ^Ñrevenueisation^Ò of which is accepted as legal by the state government, they are strong in representing their case before the newly appointed official committee to survey and regularise the forest land cultivation (so called encroachments). Beyond these specific tasks and processes which too are to lead to granting of land rights to thousands of adivasi families in Nandurbar district, Maharashtra, is the most basic and crucial issue of adivasis^Ò right to land water forest, the life supporting natural resources. This is preconditional, as anyone can understand, to nothing less than their right to development planning. The mobilised and organised adivasis then can^Òt rest till they attain these rights that could spell out a new politics and decentralised economy we all strive for. While our efforts towards efficient and just use of these resources are on, further Navnirman with an appropriate unit of alternative planning and appropriate technology is obviously to follow the struggle that is on.

A crucial event towards it is the mass-gathering of adivasis to be held at Dhadgaon on December 11th between 11 am and 5 pm On the Day, Jal-Jungle-Jamin Hakk Andolan is to be initiated and launched, the rights asserted, pledge to not just own the resources but sustainably regenerate those and build an equitable world based on the resources is to be taken.
