NOTED SOCIAL worker and Gandhian Baba Amte has invited President K R Narayanan to visit the Narmada valley to gain first hand experience of dam oustees and their problems.
"If the President pays a visit to the valley then he will realise the disaster and agony which the affected people were suffering," Amte said addressing a large gathering of dam oustees on Monday on the occasion of the commencement of his indefinite
'Narmada Satyagraha' at Choti Kasravad.
"Injustice never wins, victory always smiles on justice only," a Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) release on Tuesday quoted him as saying.
Speaking on the occasion, NBA leader Medha Patkar said the people of the valley had kept alive the fight against big dams for the last 16 years and they will not allow the government to "submerge their valid rights."
Senior Gandhian Siddhraj Ladda, socialist thinker Surendra Mohan, NBA leader Alok Agrawal and former maharashtra minister Bhai Vaidya were among others who addressed the dam oustees, the release added.
