Medha Patkar arrested again

MUMBAI, SEPT. 21. The Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) leader, Ms. Medha Patkar, and 275 others were arrested by police at Domkhedi in Nandurbar district of Maharashtra today in connection with their protests against the Sardar Sarovar project, NBA sources said.

The sources said the arrests took place after Ms. Patkar and other NBA activists had rejoined the satyagraha against the Narmada dam at Domkhedi where villagers had been protesting in waist-deep water since yesterday. Ms. Patkar and others had been detained at Domkhedi police station, the sources said.

The Maharashtra police had earlier detained Ms. Patkar on September 19 along with 125 others.
