'NBA activists' on rampage

KHARGAON, AUG. 14. Around 100 persons, allegedly Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) activists, went on a rampage last night and stripped four rehabilitation officers, razed to the ground two school buildings and a panchayat bhavan under construction at the rehabilitation site of Bahegaon village, 16 km from here, police said today.

The persons, who came around 11 p.m., wearing masks, first stripped the rehabilitation officers and beat them up after locking them in a makeshift room.

They later damaged the school building and panchayat bhavan. The mob then fled after threatening the officials of dire consequences if they restarted the rehabilitation work.

The district Collector, Mr. Bhupal Singh, told presspersons that the culprits would be identified and arrested soon.
